BOSTON BRICK RETAIL STORE

Light that lets the bricks shine in a calm, glowing backdrop of warm wood and gentle illumination.

Project Overview

Boston Brick is a playful, light‑filled retail tenant fit‑out that transforms a standard storefront into an immersive LEGO® resale experience, blending open shopping, hands‑on building zones, and community gathering space for kids and adult fans alike.

The design organizes the store as a sequence of experiences: bright street‑facing display tables draw customers in, flexible central islands support Pick‑A‑Brick play and browsing. Warm wood floors, soft neutral walls, and custom millwork frames the color of the LEGO® product, while oversized brick‑inspired stools and round play tables create child‑scaled landmarks that subtly reinforce the brand without feeling theme‑park literal. Throughout, clear sightlines allow caregivers to supervise children at play while still engaging with higher‑value display zones and the sales counter.

Key Features

Boston Brick: Buy, Sell, Trade LEGO®

The layout supports Boston Brick’s buy‑sell‑trade model by clearly organizing dense shelving, feature walls, and hands‑on build zones. Slatwall, floating shelves, and glass cases flexibly present boxed sets, rare items, loose bricks, and minifigures at eye level. Branded phrases like “Play. Build. Smile.” and “Build Your Dreams!” appear as dimensional graphics, underscoring the store’s community‑driven, creativity‑first spirit.

Customer experience and play

Dedicated build tables at the center of the space function as Pick‑A‑Brick and workshop hubs, inviting visitors to sit, sort, and experiment with hundreds of pounds of loose LEGO® elements in comfort, echoing the company’s emphasis on in‑store building and events. A softer play lounge with carpet, cushioned brick seats, and large‑scale pegboard walls supports younger builders, quiet play, readings, and small group activities, extending visits beyond a typical retail transaction. Integrated media screens and display pedestals offer opportunities for digital content, competition leaderboards, or featured MOC (My Own Creation) showcases, positioning the store as a local hub for LEGO® culture.

What our Client Say

Expert Coordination and Practical Solutions in Healthcare Project

I worked with Christine Monaghan on a healthcare-related project at the Boston Higashi School and found her to be extremely engaged, thoughtful, and easy to collaborate with.
She understands the importance of coordination and attention to detail in healthcare and institutional settings and was always open to technical input and practical solutions. From my perspective as an independent flooring consultant, her approach made a complex issue much easier to navigate. I would gladly work with Christine again and would recommend her to healthcare and institutional clients looking for a knowledgeable and responsive architect.

Transformed Our Space Beyond Expectations!

Christine was professional from the beginning on our project. Her emails and in person discussions were always met with great detail and proper expectations. We struggled with what to do with our space and what she was able to do with it was amazing! We look forward to seeing the final product and enjoy our new kitchen and living space when it's done. I cannot recommend Christine enough and share with everyone what she helped create!

Christine's knowledge is insane! She had the answer to every question that was asked and if she didn't know she found out. Follow up was top notch, attention to detail was more than we expected. 5 Stars for sure!!

A Seamless Process from Vision to Design

My wife and I had different goals and visions for the home and neither of us had undertaken a project of this scale. Throughout the design process, Christine listened carefully to each of us, shared new ideas and provided several different floor plans for us to consider - each incorporating of our varying objectives. Once we selected our favorite concept, Christine helped us to refine the layout and scope by presenting different design elements and pinpointing all the fine details. The 3D renderings she created were especially helpful for us to visualize and her flexibility working within our busy schedules was greatly appreciated. Christine also referred the contractor we ultimately selected, and we are very excited to move in to our “new” home
